Plastics additives plant pneumatically conveys soft, waxy pastilles
Plastics plant modifications include switching from a bucket elevator that frequently clogged to a pneumatic conveyor that consistently transfers paraffin-wax-based pastilles.
Morton Plastics Additives, Cincinnati, manufactures paraffin-wax-based pastilles containing heat stabilizers and lubricants. The pastilles stabilize the extrusion of rigid polyvinyl chloride [PVC] pipe and are used for calendering and injection blow molding. The pastilles flow freely even when hot, which eliminates caking and other handling problems related to powder additives.
