Delivering better feeding accuracy with loss-in-weight bulk bag batching

Achieving the batch feeding accuracy you need to compete in today's marketplace requires more complex, automated equipment. A bulk bag batching station equipped with a loss-in-weight scale system can not only improve your batch feeding accuracy, but reduce your ingredient and handling costs. This article introduces the bulk bag batching station's components and operation, then discusses factors in using the station and preventing common bulk bag batching problems.

Perhaps you use small bags of raw ingredients to produce batches. This requires a batching formula based on multiples of bags of known weight. For instance, your formula may specify one 55-pound bag of ingredient A and three 50-pound bags of ingredient B, as well as a hand-weighed amount of a microingredient. However, when combining such ingredients, you can easily miscount the number of bags added to the batch, waste an ingredient not completely emptied from a bag, or misweigh a microingredient.
