Container leasing program cuts packaging and disposal costs
Leasing plastic drums to hold dyes and dispersing agents saves disposal costs and waste of fiber drums.
The Textile Products Division of Ciba-Geigy, Greensboro, N.C., receives raw materials, intermediates, dyes, and dispersing agents in the form of powders, liquids, and presscakes containing 40 percent solids. The materials arrive in bulk, semibulk containers, bags, and drums. Pumps or forklift trucks transfer the materials to storage in a tank farm or warehouse. Forklift trucks or pumps then move the raw materials to processing, which entails wet milling, mixing, dry blending, and spray drying before the finished dyes are packaged for shipment.
