Modernization helps cement plant get its bearings

Bearings with grease-flushable seals resist abrasion from fine limestone particles on a cement plant's new belt conveyor.

Lone Star Industries' cement plant in Oglesby, Ill., located at the site where Portland cement was first produced in Illinois in 1892, has a capacity of more than 1/2 million tons per year. Lone Star Industries, which operates six cement plants, has owned the plant since 1982.
