Spray drying basics
Spray drying is an effective way to produce a stream of dry, free-flowing, spherical particles and is suited to applications in several industries. This article discusses spray dryer operation, components, benefits, and applications. Related information explains how to select an atomizing device based on your material's final size requirements.
Spray drying quickly dries materials by maximizing the wet feed's surface area. The method works by spraying [also called atomizing] a solution or slurry and mixing it with hot air [or another gas]. Direct contact with the air dries the wet feed to spherical, free-flowing particles.
