How to choose a balance for weighing small powder quantities

Here are factors to consider when selecting one of these high-resolution weighing tools.

A balance provides high-resolution weighing of small quantities of bulk solids for quality assurance testing, batching formulation, and similar applications. Unlike an industrial scale, which uses a load cell [a strain gauge transducer] for sensing weight in heavier industrial weighing applications, the balance typically relies on electromagnetic force restoration to sense weight, making it suitable for smaller weighments. Depending on the model, the balance can typically achieve from 100,000 to over 20,000,000 divisions of resolution, compared with only up to 10,000 divisions of resolution for an industrial scale.
