Solving a sticky agglomeration problem
A pharmaceutical company works with an equipment supplier to design a dry-granulation process line for a product with poor flow characteristics.
A few years ago, a pharmaceutical company was granted FDA-approval to manufacture a new drug for the US market. The company put together a team of project engineers, process specialists, and operators to establish equipment specs and design a dry-granulation process line to prepare the product for a tabletting press. Based on development work, the project team specified that the process line include a roller compactor to compact the powder into a sheet and a mill to reduce the compacted product into granules.
