Technology update: Particle sizing moves from the lab to the process
The author last surveyed particle sizing methods for Powder and Bulk Engineering in the February 1990 article, "Selecting a particle size analyzer: Factors to consider." Since then, sizing methods based on traditional and new technologies have been moving out of the lab and nearer the process line.
In this article, the author explains how sizing methods evolve, surveys the new sizing methods and trends, and describes how you can apply an at- or on-line sizing instrument in your plant. The sidebar, "A technology recap: Particle sizing methods for lab applications," reviews information from the author's previous article.
