Portable industrial vacuum gives spilled cement the boot
A cement distribution terminal purchases an air-powered industrial vacuum to keep its railcar unloading stations clean.
Buzzi Unicem USA, headquartered in Bethlehem, Pa., operates a cement distribution terminal in Pensacola, Fla. Bulk railcars deliver Portland cement to the terminal, where the material is unloaded and transferred to storage silos before being loaded into bulk trucks for distribution throughout the region. Occasionally during the unloading process, material leaks onto the ground. In the past, operators used brooms and shovels or an electric shop vacuum to clean up an unloading station and reclaim the spilled material. However, because these clean-up methods were time-consuming and maintenance-intensive, Andy Rodgers, Pensacola terminal manager, decided to look for a better way to keep the terminal’s unloading stations clean.
