Computer technology helps seed company grow in right direction
A seed company designs and builds a new seed processing facility with the aid of an equipment and systems supplier’s 3-D computer modeling.
Nunhems USA Inc., a subsidiary of Bayer CropScience Global, is an international vegetable seed company headquartered in Parma, Idaho. The company processes locally and regionally grown carrot, onion, tomato, cucumber, pepper, watermelon, and other seeds for professional growers at its Treasure Valley production site. Near the end of 2007, the company developed a 10-year strategic plan to accommodate anticipated growth that included building a new facility and installing new seed conditioning lines and ancillary equipment. To successfully implement the plan’s initial construction and installation phase, the company worked with an equipment manufacturer and systems designer that specializes in 3-D computer modeling.
