When sweeping up spills created fugitive dust, a sodium borate producer purchased eight vacuums to cut worker exposure.

U.S. Borax, Valencia, Calif., mines borax ores including tincal and kernite from which they produce sodium borate [borax] and boric acid. The producer exports about one-half of their daily tonnage to Europe and the Pacific Rim.
