Portable pneumatic conveyor moves plastic pellets at bulk transfer facility

A portable conveyor transfers material between hopper railcar and dry-bulk trailers.

Norfolk Southern Corporation operates Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer [TBT] facilities independently and in partnership with independent bulk transfer operators. One such operator, Matlack Inc., manages TBT facilities that accommodate 80 rail-cars in Atlanta, 110 railcars in Columbus, Ohio, and 46 railcars in Chattanooga, Tenn. TBT facilities handle plastic pellets; the Chattanooga facility also handles soda ash and pebble lime. Matlack provides facilities with vehicles, product handling equipment, tank cleaning systems, and operating personnel.
