Pneumatic Conveying: Choosing Between a Mechanical and a Pneumatic Conveyor, 3/11
CD of live broadcast 3/1/11
The webinar will compare the primary differences between Pneumatic Conveying and Mechanical Conveying. Advantages and disadvantages of each approach will be highlighted. Operating parameters such as energy requirements, maintenance and availability will be reviewed as well.
The mechanical systems to be considered will include belt, screw, aeromechanical, bucket, and chain-conveyors. The pneumatic systems will include vacuum and pressure, as well as dilute- and dense-phase conveying.
The webinar will address the following topics relative to Pneumatic vs. Mechanical Conveying:
- Capital Costs
- Operating Costs
- Safety Considerations
- Energy Consumption
- Environmental Concerns
- Atmospheric
- Internal to the Plant
- Noise
Wherever possible, quantitative comparisons will be presented, but due to the nature of the subject as well as time constraints, qualitative comparisons will also be given.
Individual topics will be reviewed, and a summary table for a “snapshot” analysis will be presented.
