Dust Collection: The Right Way to Make Dust Collection System Changes 7/12

CD of live broadcast 7/10/2012

This presentation will review the wrong way and the right way to make common dust collection system changes. For example, dust hood performance is critical to minimizing fugitive dusting in the workplace. Hood performance depends on reliable exhaust airflows in all branches of the system ductwork. Improperly done duct branch additions or removals have compromised dust collection performance on many dust collection systems. Changing any of these elements without considering the impact on the whole system can lead to problems and inefficient operation. Find out the right way to adapt your system to changing demands.

Presenter: Gary Johnson
Before becoming a consultant for Workplace Exposure Solutions, Gary worked in health, safety, and environment at Procter & Gamble for 27 years. His focus areas were dust control and central vacuum cleaning system design and maintenance, process safety around flammable vapors and combustible dusts, and environmental emissions and discharges. As a consultant over the last 9+ years, he has helped clients in consumer products, pharmaceuticals, plastics, paint and coatings, foods, flavorings, wood processing, specialty chemical, and metal forming industries.

Moderator: Robert Harkin, Associate Editor of Powder and Bulk Engineering
