Cement company terminal installs bagging system, second bulk truck loadout
To bring bagged cement closer to customers and to speed truck loading, a cement company terminal installs equipment for bagging and a second bulk truck loading station.
Lehigh Portland Cement's Mason City, Iowa, plant produces portland cement clinker in a dry process using a four-stage preheater and a precalcined kiln. The plant mines limestone at a quarry about 6 miles away, and 90-ton-capacity trucks haul in the limestone. A primary crusher breaks the limestone, which is then piled in a storage area. Truckloads of high-silica sand from Jordan, Minn., and Ottawa, Minn., are dumped and pushed to the storage area. The plant also receives mill scale [iron oxide], gypsum, and waste foundry sand.
