Emerging technology: A new drying concept: Combining spray and fluid-bed technology in a single chamber
The agglomerates the fluidized spray dryer produces have excellent flowability and are dustless and larger than those produced by conventional methods.
The fluidized spray dryer [FSD] is one of the latest developments in spray and fluid bed drying in a single integrated dryer and offers heat economy and flexibility. The agglomerated products produced are dustless and have good flowability and dispersion characteristics. In addition, the system uses lower temperatures, which makes it suitable for handling heat-sensitive products and reduces fuel consumption. It is the first major development in spray drying in more than 50 years and is rapidly establishing itself in many industries [notably the chemical and food industries] as the preferred technology.
