Loss-in-weight system eliminates bridging in plastics compounder's development lab
When a plastics compounder's development lab needed a way to accurately feed various materials without bridging, a loss-in-weight system using a feeder with a flexible vinyl hopper and massaging paddles worked well.
The plastics division of Wellman, Inc., recycles both industrial and consumer scrap plastic into reusable plastic resins for the injection-molding industry at its Johnsonville, S. C., location. In addition to a production floor, Wellman has a development lab with several lab feeders and a lab extruder to test new products and processes before they're used in production.
