Drying Desk: Drying Biomass
This column offers advice on choosing equipment for drying biomass.
We see the term biomass in the news a lot lately. Biomass is plant materials and animal or human waste that comes from sources such as garbage, industrial and agricultural waste, or municipal sewage and is processed to yield a usable product such as energy, biofuel (ethanol, for example), animal feed supplements, or fertilizer and soil conditioners. The end product may take several forms but is often a wet solid that must be dried.
