Deaerator keeps a chemical's bulk density in check
When variations in a herbicide's density caused production woes, a producer installed a twin-auger deaerator.
Bayer Corp.'s Agricultural division produces pesticides at their Kansas City, Mo., location. Pesticides include fungicide, insecticide, and herbicide. One such product is the herbicide Sencor, which is used mainly by soybean growers for broadleaf control. The herbicide's active ingredient is referred to as "Sencor technical" [ herein also called "the chemical"] and has a median particle size of about 35 microns. The chemical contains less than 0.5 percent moisture, and its bulk density is approximately 25 lb/ft3.
