Feeders: Troubleshooting Costly Flow and Operational Problems, 10/10
CD of live broadcast 10/12/10
Feeders are used to control the rate of material discharge from a bin or hopper, and silo or bunker outlet. Unfortunately, the mechanisms governing feeder operation under bins are not well understood in most industries. As a result, many existing screw and belt feeders, as well as a myriad of other types of feeders, do not operate properly. This often leads to excessive power consumption, abrasive wear, particle attrition and, even worse, unreliable material flow.
This topic is important to industry because effective methods are available to troubleshoot common problems and to implement solutions that minimize, if not eliminate, process irregularities caused by improper design of bulk solids feeders, such as screws, belts, and rotary valves.
Some important points to be covered during the webcast:
- Feeder vs. conveyor operation
- Troubleshooting screw feeder flow, mechanical, and operational problems
- Troubleshooting belt feeder flow, mechanical, and operational problems
- Troubleshooting rotary valve flow, mechanical, and operational problems
- Routine maintenance considerations for screws, belts, rotary valves
