Common pneumatic conveying gremlins
After troubleshooting pneumatic conveying systems for over 60 years, we're amazed to find that certain gremlins still cause trouble in many systems. These trouble sources can increase a system's power requirement, reduce its capacity, increase its required maintenance, or degrade the conveyed material.
In this month's column, we'll describe six common pneumatic conveying problems and what can cause them. A table lists each problem's possible sources; the system component, operating factor, or material the problem involves; the problem's effect on conveying; and previous "Pneumatic Points to Ponder..." columns addressing the problem. You can check these columns for more detailed information about what's behind the problem and how to remedy it.
