Mill improves cheese company's dry whey production
New mill granulates whey without clogging the mill's discharge screen, reducing waste.
When Sorrento Cheese Company, Inc., acquired California Cheese Company of San Jose, Calif., in 1987, the newly acquired plant was discarding the liquid whey left over from making cheese. Sorrento's Buffalo, N. Y., plant had dried and granulated the protein-rich liquid whey into a marketable product since 1979, so Sorrento decided to do the same in San Jose.
