A specialty chemicals company installs a fully automated turnkey system to make a new product.
EaglePicher Technologies LLC, Boron Department, operates a plant in Quapaw, Okla., that produces various specialty chemicals for the nuclear and semiconductor industries. About 3 years ago, the company decided to produce a new boron-based product for radioactive-shielding and containment applications. To make the new product, called BoroBond4, the company worked with a supplier to custom-design a fully automated turnkey system to convey, weigh, and blend five powder ingredients with water.
