Venturi eductor feeds sludge powder to combustion facility's boiler

When a complicated sludge powder feed system proves unreliable, a combustion facility installs a system with fewer components.

To comply with a ban on dumping sewage into Santa Monica Bay, the city of Los Angeles constructed the Hyperion Energy Recovery System [HERS]. HERS is an integral part of the Hyperion treatment plant and includes a sludge combustion facility [SCF] consisting of fluidized bed combustors, waste heat boilers, and emissions control equipment.
