How to use dry sieving tests — Part II
Accurately measuring the particle size of a dry material is important, because particle size distribution can affect process consistency and product quality. Correctly performing a dry sieving test is one way to accurately measure a material's particle size distribution.
Part I of this article [July 1989] discussed how to sample material for testing and divide the sample. Part II discusses how to machine-sieve the sample and analyze the results. The information on sampling, sample division, and analyzing the results can also be applied to other methods of particle size measurement, such as laser scanning, light obscuration, and electric zone sensing.
