New silo hopper reduces plugging problems
A mass-flow hopper for a cement plant's coal silo reduced plugging and cut labor and fuel costs.
ESSROC Canada Inc. [formerly Lake Ontario Cement] of Picton, Ontario, produces cement. The plant quarries, crushes, and grinds limestone that is then fired in a kiln designed to burn coal at 1,600ÂșC. Firing chemically alters the limestone, producing the desired characteristics of cement.
