Acoustic cleaner aids material flow
A grain terminal uses an acoustic cleaner to break bridges in its screenings refuse bin and to reduce reliance on manual bin cleaning.
United Grain Growers of Thunder Bay, Ontario, is a terminal grain elevator that cleans and sells grain it receives by railcar from Western Canada. The loaded railcars empty their contents -- usually barley, wheat, or durum -- into the elevator's four hopper pits. A bucket elevator then lifts the grain from the hopper pits to a scale for weighing. From there, the grain is dropped into bins located over the elevator's grain cleaning system. After cleaning a conveyor moves the grain to an annex for storage until it is delivered to the elevator's customers by rail or ship.
