Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc., headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, operates a compounded polyvinyl acetate (PVA) adhesive production facility in Portland, Oreg. One step in the facility’s production process involves adding cornstarch to a 13,000-pound-capacity batch ribbon blender that produces a slurry used for making the company’s various products. The company has implemented a remedy for the blending operation’s ergonomic and efficiency issues through the integration of an aeromechanical conveyor.
