Split-level loading rack consolidates material loading stations
A minerals producer discovers how to load railcars and trucks from the same loading rack.
Barretts Minerals, Dillon, Mont., a subsidiary of Mineral Technologies Inc., N. Y., mines talc ore from the Regal Mines outside Dillon and processes it into various talc-based products for use in other industries. About two years ago, the company decided to build a new talc ore processing plant in Bay City, Tex. The new plant would process the talc ore into talc-based antiblocks, which are used in the polyolefin film industry to prevent plastic films from sticking together.
