Analyzer accurately and quickly tests a range of particle sizes
By replacing a particle counter with an automatic, scanning- laser particle analyzer, Du Pont accurately measures particle size for hydrated alumina powder and speeds testing time by 90 percent.
Several rail shipments of hydrated alumina powder arrive at E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.'s Buffalo, N. Y., plant every week. The powder is then combined with an emulsifier and several other ingredients to make Corian? and Sierra? composite materials. Corian, which looks like marble, and Sierra, which looks like granite, are uniform, solid-to-the-core surface materials that are popular as countertops, sinks, work surfaces, and shower surrounds in residential and commercial buildings.
